Carr's Organic Fruit Tree Nursery

Fruit Tree Orders Have Closed for the 2019 Season!

But if you haven't ordered any trees yet, all is not lost!

We're holding a Nursery Open Day on Sunday 21st Julybetween 10 am and 4 pm (which is also the day you can collect your pre-ordered trees).

You'll be able to buy any left-over trees on this day. You can see the trees available in the categories on the left hand side and at the bottom of this page. We'd rather you didn't put an order through the shop - just turn up on the 21st and take your chances, unless you REALLY want to make sure you can get a particular variety. The prices will be the same at the Open Day.

Carr's Organic Fruit Tree Nursery Story

Previously we sold fruit trees under the Mt Alexander Fruit Gardens brand, but when we launched the Harcourt Organic Farming Co-op in July 2019, we (Katie and Sas) started Carr's Organic Fruit Tree Nursery, under the expert mentoring of Merv Carr (Katie's dad).

We're the only certified organic fruit tree nursery in Victoria (as far as we know), and we grow the trees from scratch.

First we save seed from the fruit grown here on the farm, and use it to grow as many of our own rootstocks as possible, only buying in specialty things we can't grow.

Then we do all our own grafting, again using grafting wood from the fruit trees here on the farm. There's more than 140 varieties growing here—including many heritage varieties—so while we don't graft every variety, we've got a fair range on offer.

Any nursery questions - please get in touch here. And to stay in touch with general farm news and be notified of any changes to these arrangements, you may also want to subscribe to the Weekly Fruit Tips newsletter, or the Harcourt Organic Farming Co-op newsletter.

Grow Great Fruit Program

We grow organically, and teach organic growing principles and methods. We’re aware of the changing climate, so the farming methods we use help to create solutions, not add to the problem. We've poured years of experience into our farm-tested Grow Great Fruit program after talking to hundreds of home growers, and figuring out what you need most...information, security, and someone you can trust to help you solve your problems.
