Welcome, fruit tree enthusiasts

We're the only certified organic fruit tree nursery in Victoria (as far as we know), and we grow the trees from scratch. Because we're located in arid central Victoria, our trees are best suited to grow in Victorian conditions. We don't offer delivery or interstate sales.

The team includes Sas Allardice (who you may also know as one of the Gung Hoe Growers), Katie Finlay (from Grow Great Fruit), and our esteemed leader and mentor, Merv Carr (who is also Katie's dad). Together, we're one of the entrprises that makes up the Harcourt Organic Farming Co-op.

How we grow our trees

First, we save seed from the fruit grown here on the farm, and use it to grow as many of our own rootstocks as possible. Some rootstocks are grown from cutting, again mainly from trees here on the farm. Occasionally we buy in specialty seed or rootstocks.

Then we do all our own grafting, using scion wood from the fruit trees in the orchards on the farm. There's more than 140 varieties growing here—including many heritage varieties—which gives us the opportunity to offer a large range.

We specialise in heritage and hard-to-find varieties and are constantly adding to our collection.

What's different this season?

This year all our fruit trees are from our own nursery; we're not buying in trees from any external nurseries as we have in the past. This means all our trees are grown locally, and should suit local conditions. At this stage we're not able to offer olives, nuts etc., but are working on expanding our selection all the time.

How to buy fruit trees in 2020

You can buy fruit trees two ways:

1. Pre-order before June 30 (recommended) - click on Fruit Tree Catalogue to get started.

Please note: If you don't receive a confirmation email, YOUR ORDER HAS NOT GONE THROUGH. Check your spam folder, or go back to your order and make sure you've completed Step 6, which is clicking "Confirm Order" after the payment step (it's at the bottom of the screen).

2. Casual sales of left-over trees at our open days (see the dates below), but be aware that many varieties sell-out quickly via pre-orders so there will be a limited range available.
